The Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at West Virginia Wesleyan College is committed to working with faculty, staff, students, and student-led organizations toward building an institution that honors workplace diversity and is committed to an anti-racism, non-discriminatory, and equitable environment for the entire WVWC Bobcat family.

ABOUT US

West Virginia Wesleyan’s student-led organizations are developing student leadership skills to educate themselves and their peers about diversity and cultural differences.  DEI is working with all students including three main student-led organizations directly under the auspices of the DE&I office: Black Student Union (BSU), PRISM, and the International Student Organization (ISO).

  • BLACK STUDENT UNION

The mission of the Black Student Union is to promote a positive and productive representation of the African American/Black community on and off the West Virginia Wesleyan campus. We promote proactive leadership, scholarship, community outreach, and student empowerment. We embrace our cultural heritage, unity, and appreciation of diversity. The Black Student Union’s focus is to build awareness, education, and a new level of consciousness about being an African American/Black in today’s society. We aim to teach others about diversity and show that through engaging in activities focused on acceptance and tolerance, we will get a better understanding of others while learning about ourselves. We provide an opportunity for students of all races to celebrate black culture, lifestyle, and history.

  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORGANIZATION

The International Student Organization (ISO) is an active student organization that has members from both the United States and foreign countries. The ISO plans cultural events, on-campus and off-campus social events, recreation trips, shopping trips, and educational trips throughout the academic year. In the past, international students have given a variety of presentations about their respective countries to elementary school children near the Wesleyan campus.

  • PRISM

PRISM, West Virginia Wesleyan University’s Queer-Straight Alliance team, is dedicated to educating and creating awareness for the LGBTQ+ Community. Through interactive events, EMOs, and meetings- to which all are allowed and encouraged to attend- we aim to make this campus a more inclusive space for all people, no matter their identity.
